After our week with the Zylstra's, we headed to Carlsbad with my family. The rest of my family had already been there for a couple days, so when we arrived we joined them on the beach, which was followed by a picnic Board & Brew dinner (our favorite) where we got to watch the sunset and play football.
The next day was 4th of July, and it's really fun to share a favorite holiday with Tanner! We have started a new family tradition of heading to San Diego for the 4th and watching fireworks at the USS Midway. This year we got tickets for ON the boat, and it was amazing! We started the day at the beach, and then headed to San Diego in the afternoon. We ate at Phil's BBQ to be real American's, then spent the rest of the afternoon walking around San Diego, and dancing on the boat. They had a band, and face painting and bounces houses for the kids. It was probably one of the funnest nights we've had together dancing all night! After seeing the Big Bay Boom, we ended the night with Ghirardelli, and we decided it was the perfect 4th!
Tanner also pulled out Roman's tooth after lunch! :) In the booth, nonetheless.
It was great running into our friend Peter on the boat! Crazy coincidence that we actually had our chairs set up right next to him too!
The rest of the week was filled with endless hours on the beach, and lots of good food.
My mom bought this cool trough thing and we had an ice cream party in it for the kids. I was really excited to get ice cream for breakfast until they started eating it with their mouths :)
We planned on leaving on Saturday early morning to head home after 2 1/2 weeks, but we just couldn't bring ourselves to do that. The fam headed to the nearby hotel after packing up from the condo, and we relaxed some more pool side! Also, really love that we constantly make the same face...we are identical sometimes and it makes me laugh!
