A DIY Christmas Wreath

I don't know what it is about this Christmas season, but I'm jumping in it full force. I'm usually someone who doesn't listen to Christmas music until Thanksgiving week, won't decorate early because I still like my fall decor, and in other words, i'm the Grinch. Maybe it's because I didn't decorate last year at all since we were in the process of moving, but whatever it is, I'm liking it. 

Because it gets dark here so dang early, the lights at my office pop on before I even leave work, and it puts me in the best mood. I've been jammin to Christmas music every night! I've been really surprising myself. Seriously. And, to make it even better, Chik Fil A's Peppermint shakes are out, and man are they gooooood. 

Anyways, this week we will have all of our Christmas decor out and ready to shine, and I'm so excited. To get started, I knew I wanted to make a wreath, since my most beautiful, huge, gold shimmery wreath broke in the process of our move. I'd be lying if I said I didn't shed a tear when that happened. I've loved making wreaths for our home, and I'm happy to say that I now have a handmade wreath for every season! 

I headed to my neighborhood Hobby Lobby and got to work.

I didn't end up using all of the supplies, but I bought anything in the color scheme that appealed to my eye. I'm a gold girl, always will be, so I knew that would be my main color. I also knew I wanted some greenery, but natural, nothing lime green. And, you can't forget red, so I knew that would be a main color as well. Everything "Christmas" is 50% off at Hobby Lobby right now, so the only thing I paid full price for was the wreath, and I used my 40% off coupon-so basically I take that back, everything was discounted. Score!

I started by cutting apart and placing some leaves where I wanted them.

Then I just started playing around with different things that I knew for sure I would use. There's nothing worse than cutting open a big ornament, not using it, and not being able to return. Place things differently until you're happy with the result.

Next, hot glue! I always keep everything on the wreath and pick up pieces to glue, that way, the placement will always stay the same.

I am very happy with the result, and I love how festive it looks on our bright red door!
