Good month

This month has sure been a good one. We finally finished finals, and headed to CA for the weekend, for our cousin's wedding. It was in San Luis Obispo or SLO as the cool kids call it. About an hour south of Santa Barbara.

Wednesday night, Tanner's parents, and Oma and Opa (grandparents) came in town for Brock's graduation. It was so fun to have Oma and Opa in Utah with us, and have them come see our condo! We went to Cafe Rio late, and I had come after a hard final, so I wasn't in the best mood, but Rio always knows how to cheer me up! :)

Thursday I was able to take my last two finals, and be home around 11 (considering my math was taken at 7 am!). 7 AM people. Math, and mornings aren't a great couple. We then went to BYU Commencment, and after went to BRIO over at Fashion Place. It was delish! And momma max got these cute cookies, along with basketballs with #13's on them. Dippidee has delicious cookies. MMM. We ate SO much crap this weekend. I hate reminding myself!(pictures from this night to come!)

Friday I went to work, and the clan met me for dinner at CPK on our way to the airport. I was so excited to go to some beautiful weather (Although, Utah isn't treatin us too shabby lately). We headed to our 9:30 flight, got back to the Z's house around 11, chatted with Lindsay (Ryan's wife), waited for the other brothers to get back from the Laker game, and then we crashed! It had been a long week!

Saturday Tan got up early and went to work at the nursery, then we all headed for the wedding around 10. We went to Doug's house (Tanner's uncle) in Santa Barbara to change, and have lunch, and an hour later, pulled up to the beautiful barn! The wedding ceremony was beautiful, on a ranch, and at the most perfect time of day. Then they were married, and cocktail hour began! Let's just say we were the only ones not in cowboy boots, and drinking. But, it was a good time! Each hors d'oeuvres came out on wood slabs, there were barrels with pretty flowers for little high boy tables, it was just such a pretty atmosphere! We then went into the tent, connected to the barn, for dinner, with chicken and flank steak, and everything in between. Then, the sides rose up, and the barn was filled with salted caramels, cookies, brownies, and every other sweet, and a photo booth! It was such a fun night! And then we drove home...another 4 hours!

To show we were really, truly at a barn!

we love our cute, sweet Opa

sunset was fabulous!

Sunday we all woke up and went to church as a family (Brock and Sarah had flown in and were leaving to visit New Zealand Sunday night). So, it was really fun to have dinner with everyone! We took a Sunday nap, watched a movie, made ice cream sandwiches for dessert, and back to the airport we went! Brock and Sarah had to be their 2 hrs early for the international flight, and Tan hates waiting at airports. Luckily we had our computers! We got into Utah at 1:30, and us, and Whit drove home. She had to teach the next day that poor girl! It was a great weekend to say the least. A crazy one, but a good one!!

Waiting for our flight!

On my drive to take my math test. The world is just beautiful isn't it?

We went to Awful Waffle to get some waffles and crepes before brim babe left for Italy! She's on her way their right now! Oh how i will miss her this spring/summer. I'm so excited for her adventure though!

I posted this on Insta, because I am a horrible artist, and I needed people to know that our sunbeams still like me. Hopefully our kids will too!
We celebrated at Cold Stone for our 6 months, and of course we brought Shelley to enjoy the fun!

Ok, I'm done.

6 Happy Months

This week, I had to give a presentation in my Stress Management class. We were supposed to describe in what way we like to relieve stress, aka, relationships, relaxtion and meditation, etc. I took my project in a bit of a different approach, and did it on Happinness. I said that I have been extremely happy these last couple of months, and I feel it's because of Nutrition, and Relaxation. I have been doing Yoga 3 days a week for the last couple of months now, and I feel so relaxed everyday. I am a stresser, and get stressed with the snap of a finger! Yoga has helped me be able to sleep better, have better posture, get my flexibility back, and just feel a lot more calm! I love it.

I then went on to share that we've been trying to eat better. We've actually always been good eaters, besides the numerous desserts, because the wife craves them. But I've really been trying to get fruit in the morning, veggies at night, and all of that fun stuff. I just really feel great lately, and it's a great feeling to feel, well great! :)

I brought "power balls" to class, because I love them. They're a great thing to pop out of the freezer, and have with a banana, and it's a great breakfast in my opinion! I brought ones with chocolate chips, because they have flax seed, so I didn't know how people would react with the flavor! But, they're also great with dried fruit! (cranberries are my fav)

Here's the recipe I used:

Healthy “Copy Kat” Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Balls
Prep time:
Total time:
Serves: 15-20
Ingredients
  • 1 cup oats
  • 1 cup coconut
  • ¾ cup peanut butter
  • ½ cup chocolate chips (I used dark)
  • ½ cup ground flax seed
  • ⅓ cup honey
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
Instructions
  1. Mix and refrigerate for 1 hour.
  2. Roll into balls.
  3. Refrigerate until ready to eat! No oven required!
Also, today is our 6 month anniversary! Seriously, where did the time go? I know it's not that cool being only 6 months, but I still think it's crazy!!! Love that man of mine. So lucky he's my best friend!

a little bit of lately

Tanner and I are trying to finish out the semester, with wonderful finals. I swear, they always sneak up on you! It doesn't help that I have 2 huge events I'm planning for work. Stress gets you through the day, yeah?

Brock (Tanner's brother) is graduating this year, so the family is coming in town, and going to a fancy dinner at the end of the week is what I'm looking forward to! Oh, and that we are taking a quick trip to California that weekend! Although we won't be spending time at the beach (sigh) we are going to Tanner's cousins' wedding in Santa Barbara. We will be driving most of the days, but we all know how much I love weddings!

Speaking of weddings, one of my dearest, and best friends, Ashlie, and Dal got engaged! These two have been meant to be since High School. I seriously am SO ecstatic they are tying the knot! It's going to be the most beautiful wedding, ever. June 21st is going to be a fabulous day!

Look at her pretty ring! She's always loved/had such dainty things, and they're so perfect on her little fingers! Stunning!

Love them.

Conference Weekend we were lucky enough to stay in Salt Lake with my parents, in our OWN hotel room, holler! We haven't done that since our honeymoon, and it was so nice for a lil stay-cation! We loved snuggling in our bed, and having a tv right in front of our faces! We went to Ruth's Chris, provided by the rents, and the crab was the most expensive thing on the menu! My dad just asked for some..never looked on the menu, ouch. We had 2 extra tickets to Sunday afternoon, and 1 to Priesthood, so Brim and Scott came to join us! It was fun! We loved shopping till we dropped, Chick Fil A shakes, Lion House rolls, and lots more junk food, that I shouldn't have consumed of! I love going to conference, and I'm so  lucky and thankful my dad gives us tickets every year!

This week we have been married for 6 MONTHS! What?! Where did the time go. It's been some of the hardest, yet happiest, best months of my life. It's crazy when you look from your second month, until the sixth month. I don't count the first month, because you're just too giddy to care. You really start to learn about each other, and learn how to care for each other's needs. I love it, and I love Tanner. He's my best friend.

Ok, sorry for the sappy post, whatever.

eternal

This past Monday my greatest friend, blood sister, and someone I have looked up to since childhood, Shelley, her father, Chuck passed away.

Chuck was the greatest, funniest, awesome dad, and someone who I loved to be around. We have gone to Carlsbad every 4th of July with them ever since I can remember. Shell and I grew up dancing at Jeanne's. I would laugh at Chuck's sarcastic jokes. He lived a wonderful, amazing life. Anyone who knew him, loved him, and knew they were lucky to count him as a friend. The funeral is tomorrow, and I will finally be able to be with the Buckhannon family tonight. Chuck's family has been through this Cancer with him, and have suffered just like him. They are seriously so strong, and I look up to each and every one of them.

Chuck is now happy, and without pain, and that is the only thing that gives me relief. I know he is with his family every day. That's how much he loves his wife and kids, because he waited for them all to get to his bedside before he passed. I love him dearly, and will miss him everyday.

I am so grateful for eternal families at this time. It makes me realize how lucky I am, and how seriouslyyyy lucky I am to have Tanner, and to have started our eternal family together. This weeks been super hard for me, because I hate having my friends in pain. Add finals on top of that, and I've been a wreck. I can't even imagine how they're dealing with this.

Anyways, I'm so thankful and lucky to have eternity with my loved ones.

We love you Chuck!

fooled

April Fool's comes and goes, and I rarely ever do a trick. If I do, it's an obvious one too! I was sitting at work, realizing Tanner didn't play any trick, which he is really good at, so I decided to text him, and act like I took a pregnancy test. I know, I know. Right when I did, I realized how stupid I was. You hear this all the time not to play that trick. But then, I was like, he will read it, realize the date, and laugh!

Well, 2 hours passed by, with no response. So, I didn't want to send another text joking around, or apologizing, because he had a HUGE Chem test on Wednesday, so I didn't want to disturb him. I just assumed he laughed and didn't have time to respond.

I was wrong...read below.

Yep. I ran to the elevator, ran to my car, called Tanner hysterically crying, and apologizing, because I felt SO unbelievably bad. Did I seriously just do that to him? He was probably so stressed, and un focused on his test, I am the worst wife EVER.

All I heard was laughing.

?

What?

Yep, I got fooled, on my own fool. He knew all along. I couldn't believe it. Did I seriously just feel bad? He is SOOOO mean!

Wellllll... I guess it was time for me to get a taste of my own medicine!
Let's just hope I don't get prego anytime because of my stupid decision! :)

E • A • S • T • E • R

Easter weekend was a very great time for the two of us. I just love looking at where we were the last year, and it makes me so happy I have all of eternity left with this man!

We had Scott and Brim come over for some pork quesadillas, and egg dyeing! They got the dye, but of course no one wants to spend money on vinegar, because no one uses it! So our colors were very "pastelly", but they turned out great! And Brim came prepared with glitter glue! Booyah

We never get pictures together...It was a great attempt right?

Easter morning I made Monkey Bread, eggs and sausage, and I really want to start developing our traditions for holidays and such! So, I love Monkey Bread (who doesn't love rolls drenched in butter and brown sugar?) So I decided this was going to become our Easter Tradition!

We then went to church, and took our cute sunbeams on a Egg Hunt, and gave them delicious Pastel M&M cookies a made. They were on a sugar high to say the least!
I was also very proud of my bow I made for my Easter outfit, and I've worn it twice more this week! :)

BYU Basketball made it into the semi-finals at Madison Square Garden, in NYC, and all of Tanner's family went, except for us. Very depressing. Tanner's never been, so I wish we could've gone, but we will get there, and soon! Right babe? :)
We took his sisters to the airport to meet his parents (they drove through the night to make a SLC flight, because it was THAT much cheaper! Crazies!) We were then lucky enough to go to our good family friends' house, the Williams, in South Jordan, have a delicious dinner (it's always nice to take a break from cooking, go on an Easter Egg Hunt, with money filled eggs, cheesecake for dessert, and games!

Now, if we can just get through this week, (huge Chemistry test for Tan, and math for me) we get to spend the weekend in SLC with my parents for conference. Can't wait for our staycation!! It's needed.
xoxo

What did I bring to dinner?
Rylee's Favorite BLT Salad

Romain Lettuce
Bacon- Precooked, and broken up
Tomatoes- Diced
Wagon Wheel Pasta- 1 Box cooked (If can't find..use big bow tie)

Also great with avacado, and chicken pieces!

DRESSING:
Vinegar- 1/4 C (ended up we had to buy some of that dang vinegar!)
Mayonnaise- 3/4 C
Sugar- 1/4 C
Salt and Pepper
Mix Together well and Keep Refrigerated until ready to use

Toss ingredients together right before serving, top with dressing, toss, and enjoy!

--I never use the whole dressing! You want to add, toss, add, toss, etc.

Like it says, it's one of my favorite salads. Because of the very light, and low cal dressing (i joke) it seems very light. I gave this to our Young Women's recipe book when I was maybe 13, and I seriously loved it. I remember suggesting it to my mom and eating it on my way to dance! Now, I love adding avocado, and chicken, and having it as a meal! Anyways.. enjoy! :)
