Nothing to Write About

I feel like we (as a couple) haven't been that interesting lately. I actually told Tanner, we need to be more interesting-I have nothing to blog about. But, the fact is, that we've had one of the best weekends together! I think it was great for Tanner to com home to me! A really great idea. I get oddly scared at night. Like it was a ball-fest over at the Z home while he was gone. Call me immature, but I just need my protector. There's seriously just something so comforting having him here with me.
Luckily, I was able to spend every hour with Shelley, (thank goodness!) but I seriously hated going home after the day to a dark house. That's what made it so worse. Oh, and the fact that Tan left his pants on the couch in our bedroom, and I popped up thinking it was someone sitting down. I'm a freak.

I am already planning the Christmas Party for work, so all day Friday I was all over Salt Lake looking at venues. I felt like a REAL event planner, it was so fun, I seriously love it. So, I took a quick nap in the airport parking lot before picking my love up (all of the lack of sleep freaking out I was going to get kidnapped), and I was parked RIGHT in the sun! This is such an odd, side note, but I just hate waking up so hot. It makes you so groggy, and just weirded out. I got out and did some jumping jacks, haha, and then was able to finally see Tan, after 50 something hours...I'm a joke, but I surely missed him!

We finally saw 42 that night, and it is sooooo good! We were debating between that and Gatsby, and I'm glad we are saving Gatsby for the dollar theatre (#newlywedlife) for the mixed reviews. It seriously was fantastic. Such a good story line, I mean obviously, it's true...but the actors were great too! I loved it.

Saturday, we slept in, went to the gym, took my car to get it oil changed, had a putting/chipping competition with Scott, and his brother Peter for some $1 ghetto, and I mean, behind a secret wire fence ghetto taco stand, mmm, and then chilled at the pool, and did some laps! Then, we got dressed up, and went to good ole Cafe Rio. We love dressing up for dinner, I mean, why not!

Sunday we had fun with our sunbeams, made a yummy dinner, for just the two of us, and took a beautiful drive up the canyon! Today, we enjoyed our day off, with the gym, homework, hair tie orders (thanks to everyone has bought some!), and a BBQ with the family. Nothing better. Although, I complained about not going to the pool, but I'll survive....I guess.

I have a feeling this is going to be a great week, at least that's how I'm going to make my week be! And good news, we head to Mesa for Ashlie's wedding in 23 days, then the week after that, go to Carlsbad, then 2 weeks later, go to Newport. I'm getting a little too excited...maybe that's why I'm being so positive and in a great mood, because my work weeks go by fast! Hopefully I didn't curse it...

Weekend

On Friday we went to the Olive Garden (still using wedding gift cards-booyah!)

I sent this picture to brim since she's in Italy... Sometimes I'm funny

We saw a horse? He literally was standing on the seat, stretching out to the car next to him, and the lady didn't even notice! Scared me so bad!!

Saturday we went to the Riverwoods, and walked around a little homemade market thing, and a wedding market convention outside, and got lots of free stuff!

We then all went to gelato in honor of our brim babe. We miss you!

Sunday we had a birthday dinner and a surprise dessert party for shell!

The cake a made.. It was reallllll yummy. And I made cookies n cream ice cream! Mmmm!

Tuesday was her birthday.. So great full for that girl and our long relationship!

We went to Texas Roadhouse on Tuesday again for the birthday girl and to say goodbye to min! She will be serving at the salt lake visitors center! Don't worry we've already planned to have lunch:) I will miss that sweet girl!

The skies have been just stunning lately.

Tanner is home in CA for a funeral this weekend, and I already miss him. I seriously am so boredddd!!!

Pesto•ranch•chicken

A couple of nights ago I made some pesto ranch chicken like I had been seeing all over Pinterest. It turned out great! You seriously throw chicken, a pack of dry ranch, and pesto into the crock pot. I love having dinner made by the time I get home from work! It's seriously the best.

The recipe calls for chicken broth, but I didn't have any that day... Thought I did, and it was beef broth! Whoops! So my basil had enough olive oil in it that it wasn't too dry! So tender and yummy. I made some red potatoes with rosemary on them (seriously obsessed with potatoes and rosemary!). We had lots left over that we made it in quesadillas for the next couples days!

Here's the result: it tastes better than it looks! :)

Also, tan and I played hide and seek last night. I suggested it jokingly, but we really played! We found some interesting hiding places, it was hilarious! Love my time with that boy.

Hair ties

So, we've all seen the adorable hair ties that come in all sorts of colors, glitters, patterns, and they're supposed to magically not dent our hair, right? RIGHT. I have fallen in LOVE with these hair ties. They're perfect for at work when I do my hair that morning, and want it out of my face, and off of my back 2 seconds later. I throw my hair in a pony, and I can take it out whenever I want, and It'll still look good as new! I neverrrrrr thought they'd fit in my hair, because I have a lot of it. But, after a few stretches, a few "wearing them as a pop of color/accessory on my wrist", they totally stretch out (but not too much) and they're perfect! I have a neon pink that I wear so much, I can practically tie it around my pony 3 times! That's a miracle in itself people.

Anyways, getting to my point, I wanted to buy some of these magic elastics, and make them for myself. But then I figured why not sell them for super cheap, because everywhere else they are pricey! So ladies and gents, hopefully more ladies, than gents... I give you... hair ties!

I am selling them for $1, or 5 for $3. If you are interested in placing an order, please email me at rylee{dot}zylstra@gmail{dot}com

I apologize for the pictures...

Hi I'm still hereeee!

Where do I even begin? My life has been a crazy, back-to-back party filled week. Let's go back to not last Saturday, but the Saturday BEFORE THAT. Yes, I'm a major slacker. We went with some friends to the Cheesecake Factory, and Tan and I went a couple hours before, to run some errands, and spend time alone together! I love walking through the mall hand in hand, it's just something I always treasure!

We then went to Scheel's and rode the Ferris Wheel inside the store! We arrived right at closing, but they still let us go! It was so fun!

After we had all of that fun, we went back to Kyle's families' house in Draper, and played games, and ate crap! Yep..it's not like we didn't just have cheesecake! We played "blindfold karaoke", where you blindfold yourself, and use noise canceling headphones, so you can't hear anything. You then start playing a song, and blast it, so only you can hear the song. Then, the people around you can't hear the song, they just hear you singing off tune! It's seriously a tear, peeing, blast!

Sunday was Cinco De Mayo, and our friends invited us over for a Cinco De Mayo party! I was asked to bring a dessert, so I made churro cupcakes, and topped them with fried tortillas rolled in cinnamon sugar! :)

We even had mexican sodas!!

Monday we had a salsa making contest at work, it turned out real great!

Jump to Friday, and I had our Casino Night. It turned out fabulous, and everyone seemed to have a great time! No, Tanner and I didn't win any of the amazing prizes that I won, AGAIN, but it will come sometime, I hope!

The blonde is Melissa, my "boss", but more like my friend. I started out as her Personal Assistant, and now since I'm on the Marketing Team, I'm not at her house as much, or focused on her as much. So, I miss it, because we have a great relationship. But I love her! She's someone I truly look up to.

Now to Saturday, the last party of the week. Ashlie came up for her final dress fitting, so we threw her bridal shower in Utah! Here are some pictures of how I decorated. With a teeny condo, and a stressful week, I think it turned out ok.

We had classic chicken salad croissants, yummy cupcakes that Shelley made, some fruit and dip, strawberry kiwi juice with fresh strawberries in mason jars, and some circus animals! :)

Just bein a chef.

The adorable Bride-to-Be answering questions for the question game!

Friends

We were lucky enough to join Ash as she picked up her dress, and tried it on for us! Man, it's a stunner. She's just always been so unique, and she used some fabric and lace from her grandma, as the belt, and it's soooo different, I would have never even thought to do that. I can't wait for the June 21st wedding!

Sunday we had dinner at Whit's house, and we took the scooter. It's so nice outside, we were thoroughly enjoying the ride! We went on an adventure, and look at these Deer in the orchard!

The sunsets that night were to die for. I really enjoy where we live, and the fun I'm able to have with my best friend everyday.

Until later...hopefully sooner than later! I'm determined to be good!
