What I've Learned

What I've Learned since living in the city for over a week....

- I seriously need to invest in some Lululemon. I've wanted just a plain black jacket for years now, but every time I go in to try them on, I've never found a jacket that fits me right. Maybe I should start with the pants... I've heard they're pretty amazing!
-It's really bad to turn the wrong way on a one-way street
-Parking on a hill is NO joke.
-I'm never registering our car anywhere besides CA again, because I went 5 times last week, and STILL have to go back.
-I had heard that Google Maps was better than iPhone Maps, and I'll be the first to attest that it is in fact TRUE! Best ever.
-Speaking of Maps, I don't think I'll ever be able to get around without using it.
-The Painted Ladies aren't even that cool. I guess I need to give them another shot because they were under construction with new paint and scaffolding. But, really there's only 4 houses... It was kind of upsetting! (But seeing the Full House house was worth it! AND it's not even really near to the Painted Ladies... look at me acting like a local...)
-There still isn't any Cafe Rio nearby... and I crave it more than ever.
-There are so many restaurants here I don't know if we'll be able to get to them all!
-I really am never going to see my husband.
-Living in small spaces means two bikes in your "bedroom".
-You always need to have your Trader Joe's bag with you at all times, because you never want to pay 10 cents for a grocery bag!
-I also need a Long Champ Bag, and I need it in navy. It's just so much safer to have a big bag next to your side instead of a satchel! ;)
-We hear at least 5 firetrucks a day, and that isn't a joke. I always get a little concerned where they keep going.
-I also need to invest in a portable iPhone charger, because I'm always using maps! Maybe that'll stop when I...get a job. But while I'm at it, I need to get the iPhone 6plus. I still kick myself everyday that I didn't get the bigger one.
And lastly,
-Learning how to cook without a dishwasher is very challenging.

I'm sure I'll have lots more to share as the days go on!

Newport Girls Trip

Back in May, the weekend before the weddings, we had a girls trip in Newport. The girls came to my in-laws house, and we had a blast. It was so good to be together. We were missing Marissa who had to tend to some family activities, and Emily had to leave quick to prepare for marriage. So, it wasn't everyone, but it was as close as we could get with the circumstances. We don't know the next time we will all be together, so it was lots of fun!

We went paddle boarding, went to the beach, ate at our favorite restaurants, reminisced on our Senior Trip at the yellow beach house, ate s'mores while blasting Ingrid Michelson, and laughed way too hard. It was such a good weekend!

lots and lots of yoga on the glassy morning water!

when you get tar stuck on your feet....

New Life

Wow. Where do I even begin! We are now living in San Francisco, and life is different. It's good but lots and lots of change. This is the first day that I haven't shed a tear yet, so let's hope it stays that way! Change is just hard no matter what it is, or how it comes about. It's a whole different world in the city, learning how to park on hills, D R I V E, finding a job, fitting in, and not seeing my husband like I used to. It's just different, but with time it will become normal, and I'm ready for that to happen any day now! But for now, here's some pictures of our first week in San Francisco!

Tanner's first day as a dental student! I'm SO proud of him.

We had a family orientation on Saturday where we toured the school and it was lots of fun!

We had trouble looking at the camera together, but this is the lab where Tanner spends every day!

The front door to our new home!

We took a ferry over to Sausalito for the day and it was beautiful! The weather has been fantastic.

Sunday after church we walked to the Golden Gate Bridge with some friends, and it was super fun! I don't think I'll ever get sick of staring at the bridge. And just so I remember...our first Sunday dinner in San Francisco, was a bowl of Top Ramen, with canned chicken, canned corn, and green beans...we didn't get groceries beforehand, and used our canned food we brought from Utah! HA!

Beautiful sunsets every way you look!
